On my trip to Banff a friend of mine, lets call him "Dylan Luke", stumbled upon one of the "greatest games no one played" to hit the DS. He picked it up cheap too.
Rocket Slime is the story of a young slime named Rocket (although you can change it a la Legend of Zelda) who is the sole escapee of a massive slimenapping from the Platypus Mob, the Plob for short, who attack Slimenia for no reason as far as I know. As the chosen Flute Warrior, (it makes sense when you play the game ok?) your job is too free the other slimes, and defeat the plob in massive tank battles.
As you travel Slimenia, you will collect items and monsters and ride them out to the capital city of Boingburg on the Trans-Slimenia Railway. By collecting items, you can arm your tank with ammo, and by collecting monsters, you let them relax in Boingburg with you, what honourable baddies. The whole game is built solid around the Elasto-Blast mechanic. Stretch and fire yourself towards enemies and items to pick them up. It's a puzzle/action/adventure/RPG title that has me hooked.
Unfortunately, more experienced players will wipe the floor in multi-card play with you, as they'll have more advanced tanks and more powerful ammo than you, the game allows you to adjust your HP as a handicap, but is that enough? And the game is shorter than most and only offers one save file. Regardless, this game is great, pick it up for about $20 somewhere, I'm giving Rocket Slime a five out of six.
