I don't quite know what to say about this musical. I've been working on it for 5 months now (I'm the Light Board guy) and I haven't exactly prepared a review for it. Here goes:
Footloose is the story of a Chicago-raised teen, Ren McCormick, as he tries to lift a ban on dancing in a small town called Bomont. To do so he'll have to persuade Reverend Moore and the Town Council that dancing doesn't involve sex, drugs, and alcohol. A wonderfully put together performance, Footloose benefits by the level of skill displayed by the lead characters, played by Brendan Cade and Shawna Peterson, as well as everyone else. The tale itself isn't bad either, most of the songs are catchy too...but some of the songs aren't that great...or necessary.
If you haven't bought a ticket for the Student Matinee, tough luck, that performance is OVERSOLD. Don't let that stop you from buying an evening ticket. Three performances left.
With the talent of all the actors, most of the dancers, and the lights department, as well as a good story, but one or two lame musical numbers, this play gets a five out of six.
